LEVELS

Levels....hmmmm....this is always a tricky subject. But nonetheless, it has to be dealt with.Below you can find a short description of what the levels will be like based on our experience. However, this is not final. Levels are always relative to the level of the people attending any event. So there will be an audition at the event during which you will be evaluated by our instructors relative to the other people at the camp and assigned to a level. So for the purpose of registration, you can use the definitions below as a guideline.

Beginner Intermediate (BI)

You're not a Beginner anymore! You have learned the basics of Lindy hop in class. You're not afraid go to social dancing evenings and you like to dance with people you don't know. You want to work on your basics and learn new moves to add to your repertiore.

Intermediate (IN)

You are beginning to feel that you know your way around the dancefloor and often found on the social dance floor. You can probably spot a break coming and know what to do with it. You like to be challenged with faster tempos and you're ready for more variations and improviations.

Intermediate Advanced (IA)

You have quite an impressive arsenal of moves and are confident in your lead or follow. You are not easily caught off guard by sudden improvisations by your partner and know how to give it your own twist. You have developed such a level of confidence that you have plenty of time to think about styling your moves as well. You have attended quite a few international workshops.

Advanced (AD)

You have attended numerous international workshops and you can find the dancefloor and your dancepartner blindfolded. You don't need to think before you do but you just do it and your partner is simply awestruck. Styling your moves has become second nature to you. You may even be part of a performance group and you don't think twice to swing the hell out of every jam circle cos it's just what you do!

Advanced Plus (AP)

This is the highest level at the camp. If you have read the four levels above and you think you are way above all of that, then this might be the place for you. You are no stranger at international lindy events and you don't have to think twice about competing in a Jack n Jill or any other competition. You are not interested in figures or moves, but you're only thinking of rhythms, musicality, syncopations, creativity and so on. This level will be challenging and you WILL be challenged. If you think you are ready for this, then try it out.
