Bruce Ellison & The Swell Rhythm Combo (BE)

The Swell Rhythm Combo are:

Jack Fire (upright bass/vocals) is renowned for his killer slap technique. His great playing is also heavily influenced by Slam Stewart and Milt Hinton;..

Pat Louis (guitar/vocals) is the "missing link" between blues and jazz with a style marked by Freddie Green, Tiny Grimes, and legendary electric guitar pioneer Charlie Christian;..

Druss Lecomte (piano/vocals) has a lively style that evokes Count Basie’s or Nat King Cole’s swing, Thomas “Fats” Waller’s and James P. Johnson’s stride, all with a touch of humor reminiscent of Erroll Garner. His rich boogie playing relies on subtlety and finesse, rather than the bombastic approach often associated with that genre...

The Swell Rhythm Combo combines swing, jive, hot jazz and rhythm ‘n blues, with a lineup similar to Cole’s trio, Basie’s rhythm section, or Willie Dixon’s Big Three Trio... If you want to hear real hot jazz and swing the way it was played in the 30's and 40's, this band is what it's all about!!!

The Shirt tail stompers (UK)

sts_uk

The Shirt Tail Stompers will take you on a journey back to the hot sounds of the jazz age. From the prohibition-era speakeasies of the roaring 1920s to the dancehalls of the swinging 30s and 40s, the band are heavily influenced by the great Harlem band leaders such as Fats Waller, Duke Ellington and Count Basie.

Now one of the UK's best exports onto the International Lindy Hop Scene, The Shirt Tail Stompers have quickly made a name for themselves after making their debut in April 2010 at the London Lindy Exchange.

After a whirlwind year of playing numerous festivals including Lindy Shock in Budapest, playing with Gordon Webster in London and with their extensive knowledge and experience of Social dancing, they are the band to see in 2012!

The New Swing Orchestra (NL)

The New Swing Orchestra is a small bigband, but even though they consist of fewer musicians they achieve the sound of a full big band, bringing back the atmosphere of the swinging thirties.

The musicians are all professionals and active in different settings and orchestras in Europe. They are specialised to play known ánd unknown tunes from the fabulous bigband era: sounds of band leaders like Stan Kenton, Fletcher Henderson, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman and songs from Billy Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, June Christy and many more feature in their repertoire.

With Quinten Kray as bandleader, arranger and Lindyhop dancer, the NSO has the perfect music for an evening of dancing.

Apart from their focus on groovy bigband music, they also give you a taste of 20s Charleston, smooth slow Blues, energetic New Orleans tunes and fast swing to spice up the night. www.jazzessence.com
